Gerard Baden-Clay has been charged with the murder of his wife Allison, Nine News has confirmed.

After being charged, Mr Baden-Clay was taken to Roma Street watchhouse in Brisbane.

He was being questioned by police at Indooroopilly police station this afternoon but refused to answer.

His lawyer, Darren Mahoney, indicated earlier this afternoon that he was expecting his client will be charged. Mr. Clay was devastated, he said.

Mr. Baden-Clay a father of three young daughters will appear in court tomorrow and Mr Mahoney has confirmed he will contest the murder charge.
